LAHORE: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and Quetta Gladiators have rejected baseless allegations made by Australian cricketer James Faulkner regarding payments.
In a press release, the PCB explained the payment method and how much was paid to Faulkner.
In December 2021, Mr. James Faulkner's agent confirmed the details of the United Kingdom Bank to which his fee payments should be transferred. It was noted for action.
In January 2022, Mr Faulkner's agent sent revised banking details of Mr Faulkner's on-shore account in Australia, for the most obvious reasons. However, 70% of Mr Faulkner's agreed payment of fees was transferred to his offshore UK bank account. Mr Faulkner acknowledged receiving the payment.
• Accordingly, the payments to Mr. Faulkner under his agreement are completely up-to-date.
The remaining 30% of its contract will be due only 40 days after the completion of HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2022, which is now pending review as per its contract.
Despite the money being transferred and received in his account, Mr Faulkner insisted that another duplicate payment of the same amount be made to his account in Australia. This meant that Mr. Faulkner would have been paid twice.
He further threatened and refused to participate in his team's match against Multan Sultans on Friday afternoon until his demands for money were met.
The PCB, as a responsible body, engaged with Mr. Faulkner early Friday afternoon in an attempt to have a discussion with him. During the conversation, despite his reprehensible and insulting behavior, Mr. Faulkner was assured that all his grievances would be addressed. He refused to reconsider his decision to take the field in a crucial match for his team, disappointed his team and demanded that their travel arrangements be made immediately.
• During this time the PCB was also in constant touch with its agent, who was sorry and apologetic.
Prior to his departure on Saturday morning, Mr. Faulkner deliberately damaged the hotel property and had to pay damages to the hotel management. The PCB later received reports and complaints from immigration officials that Mr. Faulkner had acted inappropriately and abusively at the airport.
The PCB took action against the cricketer and banned him from participating in the upcoming PSL events
