There are two key Eid’s (Celebration Festivals) in Islam: Eid-ul-Fitr, Choti eid / Meethi Eid and Eid-ul-Adha, the greater Eid / Bari Eid / Bakra Eid.
Eid al-Fitr is celebrated on the first day of Shawwal, the tenth month according to the Islamic calendar after the completion of Holy month Ramadan.
Eid-ul-Adha, is Celebrated on the tenth day of the last month according to the Islamic Calendar, Zil Hajj.
Muslims in all over the world, sacrifces animals in the memory of the Sacrifice of Prophet Ibrahim & His son Prophet Ismail (when Prophet Ibrahim had a dream which he thought was a message from God telling him to sacrifice his son Ishmail as obedience to God.
Shaitan tempted Prophet Ibrahim by telling him to disobey God and save his son. When Prophet Ibrahim was about to kill his son, God stopped him and sacrificed a lamb in return.)
